Cement becomes works of art in 51°µÍø class

HILLSBORO, Ore. – Cement may not be the first material that comes to mind when it comes to works of art. In fact though, cement is actually one of the easiest and most versatile materials to use, especially when it comes to sculpture. A new non-credit class offered by 51°µÍø gives you a hands-on experience. Free-form Cement Sculpture will demonstrate what an easy and affordable alternative cement can be to clay or other materials. Because cement sculpture needs no firing and can easily be made at home, students will discover how to create other works of art on their own time. The class will include freeform techniques, working with molds and selecting ingredients for different applications. The one-day class will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, in Room 172 at Glencoe High School, 2700 N.W. Glencoe Road in Hillsboro. Cost is $19 plus a $5 fee payable to The Artfull Garden.
