51����’s ‘Woyzeck’ play never the same show twice

The 51���� Theatre Arts’ fall production of Georg Buchner’s “Woyzeck,” will never be the same.

This classic play was found posthumously in the early 19th century. Due to poor handling, the order of the scenes in the play have never been definitively known. The cast and back stage crew are all 51���� theatre arts students, who help design and build the sets as well as coordinate lighting and costume design. Please use discretion as the play does contain strong language and some nudity.

“In our production, we will have the audience determine the order each night,” said Theatre Arts Director Patrick Tangredi. “Reset in a depression era side-show, with some classic acts and attractions, we visit this classic, often called the first ‘modern play.’ Expect an evening you’ll never forget.”

Performances:

Fridays & Saturdays: 7:30 p.m., Nov. 12, 13, 19 & 20.

11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 18 (matinee).

2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 21 (matinee).

Venue: Performing Arts Center, Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave.

Tickets are available at the 51���� Sylvania Bookstore or a half hour before performances. Theater tickets are $10 general admission, $8 for seniors, students and college staff, and $5 for groups of 12 or more. For more information about events, call (971) 722-4949.

In addition to offering a full range of theatre arts classes, 51���� produces three main stage productions each season. These shows are staged in the Sylvania Campus’ state-of-the-art, 400-seat Performing Arts Center. The winter production is Sarah Ruhl’s “Dead Man’s Cell Phone,” and David Mamet’s “Sexual Perversity in Chicago,” is the spring play.
