The recognized student government of 51°µÍø
The Associated Students of 51°µÍø (AS51°µÍø) is the official student government representing more than 50,000 students across 51°µÍø’s campuses and centers. Guided by our Constitution, AS51°µÍø exists to advocate for student needs, uplift student voices, and foster a more equitable and supportive college experience.
Who we are
AS51°µÍø is composed of all enrolled 51°µÍø students, who are recognized as General Members. The organization is led by the Associated Student Council (ASC), a group of up to 15 student councilors selected each year.
Our purpose
The Associated Student Council exists to:
- Serve and advocate for student needs, wishes, and interests
- Represent the 51°µÍø student body in all endeavors
- Uphold transparency, equity, and responsible stewardship of resources
- Amplify diverse student voices
- Foster an equitable and transformative leadership experience for student leaders
AS51°µÍø is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive college environment for all students and explicitly prohibits discrimination based on any protected status.
Committees and roles
AS51°µÍø operates several permanent committees each year, including:
- Institutional Relations Committee (IRC)
- Student Relations Committee (SRC)
Councilors may also serve as:
- Committee Chairs
- External Liaisons to statewide student organizations
- Digital and Communications Secretaries
- Minute Takers
- Other roles deemed necessary by the Student Council
